Sorry to hear that Edward. I’ll look into writing edits out to a temporary file when saving or previewing so that if something goes wrong, you won’t lose your work.

I hope that 1.7 will feature some kind of buffer so that you don’t lose your text if the app crashes or there is a glitch with the net connection. I worked on a post for about 30 minutes and the app crashed during submission and I lost my edit and had to rewrite from scratch.

Hi Jennifer,

I went to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:LongPages and tried out the 5 longest pages on the English version of Wikipedia on iPad 1 running iOS 5.

Typing in the editor of those big pages can be “laggy”, especially on the iPad 1, but I was able to add text to the beginning and end of each article and preview them. I could scroll from the top to the bottom as well even after editing.

Since I wasn’t able to recreate the issue, I have a few things you could try:

* Try letting the article load completely before tapping “edit” and see if that makes a difference.

* If you haven’t “shutdown” your iPad after the upgrade, you could try that. Press hand hold the on/off button for 5 seconds, then swipe “slide to power off”. Press and hold the on/off button to restart your iPad.

* If that didn’t work, you could try deleting Wiki Edit and reinstalling it. The App Store on the iPad has a category called “Purchased” now, you can reinstall Wiki Edit from there. (This is kind of a last resort, you’ll lose your bookmarks if you do this.)

If none of those suggestions help, could you send me an e-mail with more specifics of an article you’re having an issue with? I think if I can see what you’re seeing, I could put out a fix for the issue you’re having.

I just upgraded my original iPad to IOS 5 and now using the most recent version of Wiki Edit I can’t edit long Wikipedia articles any more. I can edit the very beginning but there’s no way to scroll down farther to edit the rest of the article or even the rest of a long section.

Apple hasn’t yet released the “gold master” for iOS 5, so it’s probably going to be around late September (or early October) if I had to guess. There are a lot of changes inside of iOS 5, so Apple’s testing phase is taking a little longer than expected. As I’m using iOS 5 features, I need to wait for Apple to start accepting submissions before I can make the next update.

Wiki Edit 1.7 will work on iPad 1 & 2, and support iOS 4.x and above.

I’m sorry for the delays. I’ll keep folks posted as soon as I know more.
